Doug Robertson is a New Zealand painter, working mainly in acrylic.

Based in the Bay of Islands, Doug's background is in French polishing, painting, ceramics, wood carving and turning. These professions have fed into his experimental approach to paint and the other materials he uses in his original artworks. Doug paints on canvas or board, using plaster of Paris and other textural elements in combination with acrylic or oil paint. His passion for sailing and his love of the sea come through in his nautical themed paintings. He takes a keen interest in history; his paintings explore a range of subjects from seascapes and sailing ships to images of the cosmos, landscapes, as well as depictions of historical people, places and events.
